It's all part of the Experience

Is This Really a Question?

The 2020 election was between two old guys, Biden v. Trump, which in my mind meant that there was a high likelyhood that their VP’s might be pressed into service as President.   So, it only seemed prudent to put a little extra effort into vetting their VP choices of Mike Pence and Kamala Harris.  Because for me,  returning Trump to office was off the table, this really meant only looking into Kamala Harris.   I read the pro and con articles, the fluff pieces, the hit pieces, fact checked the positive as well as the negative, and finally read her book to get her version of her life.  Overall I liked her because she appeared tough, but caring and fair, which importantly seemed to match her own self-vision as a tough yet caring person.

Now along comes our 2024 election and we have Joe Biden admirably stepping back from a now 4 year older version of the contest between two old guys.  I say, good on Joe; at this point he should be spending time with his wife and family.

Truth be told, I would have voted for Biden over Trump even if Biden were in coma or dead.  In my opinion, through wisdom and good leadership he has built an administration over the last 4 years that is fully capable of running our country with or without him.  Trump (whose administration I hear is mostly voting for Harris) has shown me two things; first, that he is the most important person to him; and second, that he lies, cheats, steals and bullies to get what he wants.   Donald Trump has shown me that he is criminal, not presidential.

So in my mind is there even a question in the Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump race?   Um….nope.

I will choose Kamala Harris for certain. I think that she is a good choice to become the next President of our nation. A good choice, not just better than the other guy.

Another thought: I can remember back to 1976 when I wore a silly looking red white and blue bicentennial t-shirt, while not really understanding much about our nation’s 200th birthday.   Now with our nation’s 250th birthday just a few years away, I fully comprehend the ironic justice of celebrating that milestone with a President who is both a person of color and a woman; neither of which would have been possible in 1776.  Look at us once again rejecting tyranny and showing the world that we are still on the path to forming that more perfect union. Now we just have to confirm that reality by voting Harris/Walz.
