Forty Four

Forty Four miles this morning for my second ride in my personal version of the 2020 Tour de Whatcom, the plan where I ride each of the routes, 20, 40,60 & 100 mile routes over the course of the summer.  It was pretty easy to connect the Raleigh Twenty to the 20 mile loop, but I had to think a bit longer on a connection to this route.  Save for one hill, I was pretty happy with my choice of…Continue Reading

Where’s George?

You find a lot of interesting things when you hit the road early for a bike ride.  Yesterday, as I chugged up the hill leading west out of Ferndale I got a good laugh about money littering the streets of Ferndale.  Then as I stopped, just in case it was a $10 or a $20, I got another laugh when I noticed the www.wheresgeorge.com stamped in the $1 bill.   Where’s George? Traffic was almost completely devoid of numpties and I’d be pressed to consider any of them asshole numpties.  And while it seemed that there were several flats and mechanical issues going…Continue Reading

North County Loop

Saturday was a nice morning for a long road ride. As a fitness goal, I signed up for the 100 mile Tour de Whatcom in July, so it is getting to be the time that I need to get my body used to the long miles on a road bike.  Fitness levels for road biking and mountain biking may be closely related, but road bike hours on drop bars have you in one or two pretty defined positions while mountain…Continue Reading
