Slacking

I do believe that the last Tour de Whatcom I did was preceded by a vacation that included no biking whatsoever, lots of eating, and several beers per day.  Looks like 2018 will follow suit as today’s ride was the first in about a week due to a fun little vacation time.  Again, no biking, lots of eating, and quite a few beers.  However this little 2018 vacation did include more physical activity in the way of zip lines, aerial park, cave hiking and stand up paddle boarding so I am hoping that the 2018 TDW will go well in spite of the biking down time.

I did take some time today to get a ride in.  I did a nice loop that included lots of wild flowers along the road that matched colors with my bike.  I got a long look at the flowers while I was slowly riding the 25 miles because it seemed that no matter which direction I was heading, I was heading into the wind.  Nice workout though.

Poor as my writing might be, I still like to write. I’ve written a blog or two in the past, but at one point or another they each became a chore rather than a joyful pastime. C.S. Lewis said, regarding writing, “Write about what really interests you, whether it is real things or imaginary things, and nothing else.” I will be following Lewis’ advice so this blog, which bears my name, will remain a joyful pastime. Hope you like bikes.
