One of my favorite loops because it’s fun, just an hour long and right here in Ferndale. Park at Pioneer Pavilion, rided south on Ferndale Road, cross the river at Marietta, ride north on the trail along the river, through Hovander and back into downtown Ferndale.
I did this loop yesterday morning and it was sub-freezing as the photos will attest, but fun nonetheless.
And leading into the weekend, absolutely no thoughts of the Seahawks. 😉
Update – I’ve since started riding this loop another way to avoid what I feel is a pretty dangerous crossing at Slater Rd. click on this link ==> Another Way
Pre-ride weather check showed frosty freezy conditions out there.
Yes, frosty freezy. Frosty freezy roads lead to frosty freezy tires.
Warm up stop, waiting for the sun.
Ahhh, there’s that sun to help thaw my fingers.
South end of this section of the Nooksack Loop Trail.
Quiet spot.
South end of the trail section is pretty rough from recent flooding, although it doesn’t get much better in this section that floods pretty regularly. Fun to ride this mostly rideable area.
Stumpjumper warming in the sun just north of Slater Rd.
Likely the longest time for this favorite loop of mine due to many warm up and photo stops. Good thing this loop isn’t a competitive event.
